Mystery Mosaics, ages 6 to 12

Colour the dots. Who's hiding?

Every page is a wall of numbered circles. Colour each one to match its number, and a picture slowly appears: a vampire boy, a fox in a pumpkin, a friendly ghost. Try this little one. Click the circles and see what turns up.

Big-print word searches, for grown-ups and seniors

Big letters. No tricks.

Eighty Halloween word searches in large, easy-to-read print. The Easy book keeps words running forwards; the Hard one hides them in all eight directions. Have a go at this one: click the first letter of a word, then the last.

For grown-up ghouls

Grayscale, by candlelight.

Detailed shaded designs made for coloured pencils: owls on gates, haunted manors, a skeleton violinist, witches over rooftops. The grey shading does the hard work, so a little colour goes a long way. Move your mouse over the page to see what we mean.

Which Halloween grayscale coloring book should I get?

All three are grayscale coloring books for adults: each design is printed with soft grey shading, and you lay colour over it. Pick Volume One for 50 classic scenes (owls on gates, carved pumpkins, haunted houses), Volume Two for 50 Victorian Gothic scenes (skeletons, ghosts, candlelit ballrooms), or the Complete Collection for all 100 designs in one paperback. Pages are single-sided, so markers won't bleed through to another picture. The Pocket Sudoku & Grayscale book is the odd one out: 100 sudoku puzzles, each facing a small grayscale page to colour. Not sure? Print ten grayscale pages free and try them first.

What you'll need

Soft pencils, one blender, a sharp sharpener.

Grayscale pages want soft, see-through colour laid gently over the printed shading; the pencils from the kitchen drawer make them look flat. Five things that fix that, and a short guide to why.
