Modern car keys do three things: physically turn the lock (the cut blade), tell the immobiliser the engine can start (the transponder chip embedded in the head of the key), and operate the remote-locking buttons (the fob electronics, often combined into the same unit). Replacing a lost key means doing all three on-site.
The dealer route: tow your car to the franchise, two-day wait, £400–£600+ on most cars. Our route: we come to you with the kit, do it on the kerb, and the car drives away. Saves the tow charge, the dealer markup, and the two days.
What we carry on the van
A precision key-cutting machine, a transponder programmer covering most UK makes (BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Ford, Vauxhall, Volkswagen, Peugeot, Renault, Citroen, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Land Rover, Range Rover, Mazda, Skoda and most vans — Transit, Crafter, Sprinter, Vivaro, Master, Boxer, Relay, Iveco Daily). Blanks and fob bases for the same. If your make is something unusual we'll tell you on the phone before we set off. See the full auto locksmith service — car lockouts, ignition repair, chip keys and fob programming all on the same number.
What we'll ask on the phone
Make, model, year, fuel type (petrol/diesel/hybrid sometimes matters for the immobiliser), and whether you have any other working keys at home. The last one matters: if you have one working key, the job is faster and cheaper. If you've lost every key, we add a step to wipe the immobiliser and pair the new key fresh. We give you the fixed price for either scenario on the phone.
